Wow. My contribution/comment is a generational twist. When I was in high school (%#$& years ago), I took the proverbial trip to Washington, DC with our history class. When we were viewing the Lincoln Memorial, on the steps, was a sign that said “MLK has been shot.” As we were flying out of DC, we counted seven fires burning – people were rioting over his assasination. Reading your blog about the echoes of MLK causes my mind to consider that MLK (& others) have been the blood of martyrs that brought the African American people to this awesome point today. My mind has never considered MLK (& others) martyrs before now…
